Emergency Supports

Current Programs

1. Rapid Employment & Emergency Income Support

Sometimes the fastest path out of crisis is a paycheque—not tomorrow, not next week, but today. Through long-standing partnerships with two exceptionally supportive employers, we help individuals who would normally be screened out of traditional hiring processes secure honest, dignified work.

Whether someone is unhoused and only able to manage a few hours a week, or they’ve just lost their job due to a wildfire or unexpected hardship, we act as the connector. When positions open, our volunteers refer qualified individuals directly to our employment partners—bypassing barriers that often keep people in poverty.

It’s simple:

Sometimes earning money is the emergency.

And we’re here to help solve it.

2. Essential Warmth: Blanket Distribution

During winter cold snaps, survival often comes down to something as humble as a blanket. We collect military surplus gear, donated blankets, and decommissioned hospital linens—anything warm, clean, and capable of saving a life on a freezing night.

Our volunteers keep stacks of blankets in our mobile care units, ready to distribute at a moment’s notice. It may sound small, but when the temperature drops to deadly levels, a blanket can be the difference between frostbite and a fighting chance.

Future Programs

1. 24/7 Crisis Shuttle Service

Imagine a community where no one freezes on a sidewalk because they couldn’t reach a shelter in time. Imagine a person ready to detox who doesn’t lose their courage waiting for a ride that never comes.

That’s the future we’re building.

Our planned 24/7, year-round Crisis Shuttle Service will provide free transportation to:

  • Emergency shelters

  • Hospitals and medical appointments

  • Detox and rehabilitation facilities

  • Transportation hubs

  • Emergency responder headquarters

  • Legal court

We already have the volunteers ready to staff this program. Once our accountant finalizes the budget and we secure government-surplus vehicles, we believe this life-saving service can launch within 6 months—and at surprisingly low cost.

One warm ride at 3 a.m. can change everything.

2. Mobile Bike Patrol Program

Not all crises happen on city streets. Many occur on forgotten trails, in river valleys, LRT lines, bus transfer stations, and in the quiet corners where traditional outreach teams rarely go.

Our Mobile Bike Patrol Program aims to change that.

Equipped with electric bikes and small utility trailers, our volunteers will deliver essentials—water, food, first aid items, blankets, harm reduction supplies, and human connection—into the areas most organizations can’t reach. Besides being incredibly practical, it’s also fun. (We find people volunteer more when e-bikes are involved. Shocking, we know.)

This program increases visibility, expands our reach, and ensures that no person is left unseen. With an estimated cost of $10,000 for two full units, we aim to launch by spring.

Sometimes hope looks like two wheels, a trailer, and a volunteer with a big heart.
